Secure in Christ Intro

Welcome to a new study! I always love the feeling of starting a new study or a new class! The possibilities are endless. I haven't messed up or fallen short yet - so maybe this time I won't 😂. And I'm so excited about the subject we're discussing, Secure in Christ. This study covers the book of Ephesians, one of my uncle's favorite books that he taught me once many years ago could be read in just 30 minutes! Who knew you could receive such a wealth of knowledge in such a short time, but I plan to spend a great deal more than 30 minutes diving into all that God has to teach me in Ephesians this summer.

We'll be focusing on one chapter a week for six weeks, but as always, my blog posts will span the two-week break as well, so they'll be more like 0.8 chapters per week. In Ephesians 1, we'll be looking at how we are chosen and redeemed. Chapter 2 teaches us about being alive in grace. Unified under Christ is the theme of chapter 3. Then in Ephesians 4 we'll take a look at how we can be reflecting Christ. Chapter 5 of Ephesians is probably the most well-known and likely my favorite. I was laughing to my son when I realized that Ephesians actually had six chapters - I thought it only had five since that's the one I reference most often! This chapter covers walking in His ways. Then, finally, in chapter 6 we'll learn about standing firm in the gospel.

I learned in my last study that memorizing large passages is not in my wheelhouse in this season of life, so I won't be attempting to memorize all of Ephesians. I do want to flex that memory muscle a little, though, and it feels good to have God's Word around to meditate on, even if I don't end up memorizing it. So, I'm going to start with printing out the first week's memory verse (above) and posting it in my kitchen and bathroom as I did with the last study. If it goes well, especially if I end up memorizing it, I'll go on to the second week's verse and do the same. I'll try to remember to let you know what ends up happening with that as I go. If I feel like I still have more to learn in this season from the first verse and it's not memorized yet, I'll likely stick with it for longer.

As always, I'd love for you to join me in this study! You can find it on Love God Greatly or Amazon* if you want to purchase a physical copy. You can also follow along in the YouVersion App or Love God Greatly App from your phone's app store for free. I'd love for you to keep up with my posts about it here, but if you're anything like me, you'll get so much more out of it if you look it over on your own before you read what I have to say. I am so sensitive to the power of suggestion!

Here's the Thing: I'm learning that there isn't one way to learn and study the Bible. Not everyone has to do their study in the morning. Not everyone is built and equipped to memorize scripture. But we are all not only equipped through the Holy Spirit to study the Bible, we NEED it in our lives. Won't you join me?

P.S. Here's a more printer-friendly version of the memory verse if you'd like to print it and post it around your house too!
