Feel Pretty, Look Pretty

My brain surgeries, and perhaps the tumor itself, had more than a few unexpected side effects. Two of these were me becoming pre-diabetic and having high cholesterol. These both changed shortly after the surgery and without any change in my diet. My doctor has been working with me for quite some time to address these issues - my body is not cooperating so far - but in the meantime I have gained a significant amount of weight, about 50lbs. I weigh more now than I ever have in my life, even when I was pregnant. As you can imagine, that is a challenge for both my physical and mental health. Adding on to the mental side of this, none of my clothes fit anymore. Kick a girl while she's down why don'tcha?

My husband, in his precious compassion and wisdom, encouraged me to find some new clothes that I would enjoy. I kept seeing ads pop up on Facebook for BloomChic and I was intrigued. I worried that it might be just another Temu or Wish and so I checked out reviews for them online. What I found was that too often people with ill intent would spoof BloomChic on Facebook with unbelievable deals and when people clicked on the links they found themselves in a heap of trouble with no new clothes. But, if you go to their actual website, they are a legitimate company with about the average happiness rating. So, I decided to try it out.

My first order was for four dresses, one of which was not available in the size I thought I should order but in one size down. It turned out, that was the only one that actually fit! That was a little ego boost. I also got to try out their return process, which turned out to be easy and smooth. If your order is over a certain amount or you have a coupon, the shipping is free. For returns, however, you will be charged $6.99 shipping. That's very fair, I think. The only time it becomes an issue is when the item you're returning cost less than $10. In that case, I think you're best off donating it somewhere. Unlike Amazon, you do have to return things at the Post Office, which can be a pain, but I haven't had too much trouble with lines and such. I've received every return in full and very quickly, and I've done quite a few now!

Since that first order, I've had a better idea of sizes, though I had to try a few different jeans before I found the perfect fit! Again, their returns are simple, thank goodness! Also, since the first order, I've gotten a better idea of what prices I was willing to pay. You might not believe this, but I rarely pay more than $15 for ANYTHING, even dresses and jumpsuits. Occassionally I will find something in the $20-25 range that just calls out to me, but that is definitely the exception. I've bought several dresses that I love now in the $5-10 range. What I do is hop on their website or the app and check out the sales page. I filter by my size and then sort the prices from low to high. I set a limit of what I'm willing to pay per item and start adding things to my cart, then I look over my cart and get it down to what I'm willing to pay overall. Often they will offer you coupons in the cart, which are usually your best discount, but you can search online for BloomChic Coupon Codes as well. I've frequently found BloomChic advertised in my Credit Card's Shopping portal for additional discounts or bonuses. I think I'll write a post on that in the future if you're interested.

Here's the Thing: My husband is happy to spend money on new clothes for me because he sees how it affects my self-image. Wearing clothes that fit and look nice, make me feel pretty. When I feel pretty, I look pretty!
