Writing With the Words God Supplies

Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of the varied grace of God. Whoever speaks, let it be with God's words. Whoever serves, do so with the strength that God supplies, so that in everything God will be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.  1 Peter 4: 10-11

Each of us is gifted in different ways, as many and varied as the abilities of God. Peter only gives two examples here, but there are a multitude. More than he could have ever known. And I believe that we have more than one gift typically. It could be that God so focuses a person that He only gives them one particular gift, but I have not encountered that. My husband, for example, is extraordinarily gifted with computer skills, leadership skills, wilderness survival skills, wisdom, and others.

One of the ways I believe that God gifted me is through the ability to communicate my thoughts through writing. It’s always come fairly naturally to me, but recently I was struggling with finding words. In doing my Bible study each morning I felt like I had nothing to say, like there were no take aways. I prayed and asked God what He wanted me to do differently to grow in my relationship with Him and He put on my heart to write about my Bible study each day on my blog.

At the time that seemed impossible as I was barely putting a couple of sentences down each day, but I followed in faith and announced to everyone what I would be doing. In true fashion, God showed up. Each day for the past three weeks, He has put something specific on my heart to write about. He has given me the words, just as it says in today’s verses. It has been an incredible experience!

Here's the Thing: God’s gifts can look like just about anything. It could be gardening or couponing or homeschooling or singing. How has God gifted you? What do you feel joy in doing or feel particularly good at? How can you use that gift to serve others and glorify God?
